Matching Pasta with Sauces.
Pasta comes in many shapes and forms and certain shapes complement certain preparation. The general rule of thumb is that “delicate noodles are for delicate sauces while heartier noodles are for heartier sauces,” but here are some guidelines for which common pasta goes with which sauce. Farfalle pasta for example goes with any preparation.

Farfalle : any preparation

Fettuccine : Butter/oil, Cream/cheese, Meat, Seafood, Tomato sauce, Vegetable

Fusilli : Baked, Butter/oil, Cream/cheese, Meat, Pesto, Salad, Soup, Tomato sauce

Jumbo Shells : Baked, Cream/cheese, Meat, Tomato sauce, Vegetable

Lasagna : Baked, Cream/cheese, Meat, Tomato sauce, Vegetable

Linguine : Butter/oil, Cream/cheese, Meat, Pesto, Seafood, Tomato sauce, Vegetable

Macaroni : Baked, Butter/oil, Cream/cheese, Meat, Salad, Tomato sauce, Vegetable

Orzo : Baked, Salad, Soup

Pastina : Salad, Soup

Penne : Baked, Butter/oil, Cream/cheese, Salad, Tomato sauce, Vegetable

Rotelle : Baked, Cream/cheese, Meat, Salad, Soup, Tomato sauce, Vegetable
