Glowee wants to revolutionize urban lighting. Co-founded by Sandra, her idea is to illuminate cities without consuming electricity.
The product is a concentrate of living organisms of natural luminescent properties.
Without electricity or light pollution, this alternative lighting would help storefronts to regain visibility. Its use has also already attracted interest from multiple sectors: airports, road signs, street furniture, natural reserves …
Prospects are even more endless as shape, color and media size are customizable.
The idea is to trap between two sheets of transparent stickers a biosystem composed of bacteria and algae. These provide glucose to bioluminescent bacteria which at night emit light.
Glowee is transparent by day and provides light at night in the intensity of a candle, but without using electricity.
Ultimately, this form of lighting would reduce 20% damage to the environment and electricity bills.
After being launched by the Artscience Prize in 2013, the victory of the Glowee Elevator Tower in Paris has allowed them to raise € 10,000 investment. Glowee now hopes to market the product within 6 months.
