The development of the Veyron 16.4 is one of the key milestones of 21st-century automotive engineering. Volkswagen CEO Ferdinand Piëch made high demands: the designers were to revive the heritage of Ettore Bugatti with this new super sports car.

The Veyron reaches velocities that would literally lift the car off the ground, if it weren’t for its ingenious aerodynamics, which keeps it firmly on the road even at full speed.
It takes this exceptional car only 2.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, it needs even less time – a mere 2.3 seconds – to come to a standstill from 100 (reference point).
The Veyron is named after Pierre Veyron, a Bugatti development engineer, test-driver and company race driver who won the 1939 24hrs du Mans. Price starts at around $1.5 million.
The Buggati brand/family is well known in the world thanks to one of its member, Jean. Born Gianoberto in Germany to an originally Italian family, this extraordinary automotive designer and test engineer will only need 30 years to make such a huge impact on the world.
Soon after his birth the family moved to the village of Dorlisheim near Molsheim in Alsace where his father built the new Bugatti automobile manufacturing plant. Born into a family of creative people, from boyhood he was interested in his father’s business.
By the late 1920s, young Jean Bugatti was an integral part of the company and had already demonstrated his vehicle design abilities. In 1932, at the age of twenty-three years, he did most of the design for the company’s Type 41 Royale. His body designs complemented his father’s engineering skill, making Bugatti one of the greatest names in automobile manufacturing.
