Alain Le Guillou MD.
Dr. Le Guillou starting practicing pediatrics in Larchmont in 1995, and has been in solo practice at the current location since May 2008.
We rely on the latest medical science to promote disease prevention and rapid recovery from common illnesses. The most acute and severe situations can also be managed rapidly and effectively, with various tests done right in the office, or with the help of a strong and reliable network of academic pediatric specialists, in New York City and Westchester.
Very few patients ever get admitted to the hospital nowadays, thanks to the latest vaccines against devastating bacterial infections like meningitis, caused by either Hib (Hemophilus influenza B – Hib vaccine appeared in the mid 90s) or pneumococcus (Prevnar vaccine in 2000), and to our integrative approach to upper respiratory infections like the common colds and flu, gastro-enteritis, asthma and bronchiolitis, for example.
We combine the latest, proven, conventional and integrative methods of treatment and prevention. Our primary admission center is the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, but children may also be referred to other university hospitals in the city.
Sick children can be seen the same day if necessary, but well visits last up to 30 min, and therefore need to be scheduled weeks or months in advance. Please do not wait for the last minute and expect to be sqeezed in at a convenient time for a school or sports physical.
Dr. Le Guillou is a Board-Certified Pediatrician, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), who practiced in pediatric groups in Larchmont from 1995 to 2005 and is now back in town after 3 years on Mamaroneck Avenue where he started his solo practice.
Dr. Le Guillou graduated from the prestigious Necker-Enfants Malades School of Medicine in Paris, one of the very best academic pediatric hospitals in the world, and did his US pediatric residency at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, both nationally recognized pediatric training programs. He is also certified in Sports Medicine from the Cochin School of Medicine in Paris and was the first school physician for the Regional Sports Boarding School (CREPS) of Chatenay-Malabry near Paris.
He has been the Pelham School District Physician since 1996, and is also accredited by the French Consulate of NY.
Combined with his highly scientific training, Dr. Le Guillou has also studied and practiced other forms of complementary medicine like Clinical Homeopathy, Japanese Acupressure (Jin Shin Jyutsu), Clinical Hypnosis and the spiritual aspects of healing. He has also lectured and trained physicians and health care providers in those disciplines. His approach to patients and parents derives from this diverse background, and aims at increasing self-reliance and empowerment, as well as, for instance, reducing the painful impact of procedures like vaccinations.
